Why this blog?

I will start by saying that this has been in the making for the past ten years. I have had the desire to write something to encourage the church but I often found myself procrastinating, putting it off and ultimately giving into fear and laziness. Thanks be to God, I am back at it and ready to share with you whatever truths, he will reveal to me as I study His Word and seek to draw near Him. I do not claim to know everything, nor am I a theologian in the scholarly sense but I do have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians2:16) and I love to study His Word. So, you might ask, what is the purpose of this blog? As the title and the subtitle suggest, it is for the encouragement of the enduring Christian. The title of this blog is taken directly from Proverbs 25:11 which reads “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” and the subtitle is a paraphrase of Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Therefore, my desire is to use this blog as a communication platform to share truths, build up and allow my words to be ones that are aptly spoken, speaking directly to a specific situation and encouraging you in your walk with the Lord. I want this blog to be a place where encouragement, love for the Lord and a renewed strength to persevere are ignited. I will also endeavour to keep my writing biblically sound but as a reader, I would encourage you to be like the Bereans in the book of Acts and examine the scriptures and everything I say for yourself. Thank you for taking the time to read this and whether you are here by choice or not, may the Lord Jesus bless you and lift up your spirit as you navigate this blog.
